The launch you’ve been waiting for: enter Cinta the Label. Founded by renowned fashion consultant Amy Sturgis, the RTW brand puts a modern twist on flamenco-inspired styles, giving you the perfect wardrobe staple.
With a collection of slip dresses, silk kimono dresses and matching satin bags, Cinta’s first collection sold out in a matter of minutes and we’ve managed to get our hands on a few key pieces.
We sat down with Amy to talk about the inspiration behind the brand, the journey so far and what it really takes to launch your own label.
1. Tell us a little about yourself and what you do?
I’m a consultant by trade and have been in the fashion industry for over eight years. I started in PR working for luxury brands including Aspinal of London, Manolo Blahnik and All Things Mochi. I then went on to launch Cinta last September!
2. What’s the inspiration behind the brands?
I grew up in Spain and have always been drawn to flamenco dancing and the materials the dresses were made from. The word Cinta means ‘Ribbon’ in Spanish.
3. Describe the Cinta Girl in three words
She’s confident, happy and ambitious.
4. Talk us through the patterns behind the Collection?
All the prints have a meaning, the rainbow print comes from one of my favourite quotes: “When it’s dark look for stars, when it rains look for rainbows”. I actually walked into a children’s shop and saw a cloud with a rainbow stream, and that’s actually where the inspiration came from!
5. Was sustainability something that drove the collection in the early stages?
It’s no secret that we need to cut down on wastage and our carbon footprint. All our Kimonos are made from deadstock materials and our factories are all ethically certified.
We also keep our runs fairly limited, only ever producing 100 pieces.
6. If you were on a desert island, what one piece would you take and why?
I would take the Taurus dress, it’s where the brand started and quite sentimental!
7. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Listen, take advice, don’t give up when it’s tough and focus on the longterm game!
8. Where do you see Cinta in the next couple years?
We’d love to have a showroom in either the UK or US and grow into a lifestyle brand, supporting worthy causes and providing something for everyone whilst following ethical processes.
We will be launching “See Now, Buy Now” for our FW19 Collection, to avoid wastage and offer our consumers new product and diversity at a much faster turn-around.
9. Who’s style are you loving right now?
I’m obsessed with Bettina Looney and Emili Sindlev’s style. Very chic but also unique.
10. Why have you chosen to collaborate with HURR?
We’ve chosen to partner with HURR as their values and sustainable vision match ours. Increasing a product’s lifespan and enabling people to earn an income, helps us make the world a better place.
