HURR Girls: Meet Rohini Bajekal
Welcome to our HURR Girls series in which we meet the fabulous women who rent/lend/spread the word of sustainability within our community. We look to talk to them about style, and help to spread the word of what it’s actually like to rent. Next up: @rohinibajekal
Who: Rohini Bajekal, plant-based nutritionist.
Style: Romantic, preppy, colourful.
Brands on HURR: Missoni, Ghost, L.K. Bennett.
Why do you like to rent on HURR?
The sustainable aspect is hugely important to me. As a vegan, it can be hard to find stylish party wear made without animal products such as silk so renting from HURR is perfect for those special occasions.
Favourite part of renting process?
I often play it safe but since joining HURR, I have experimented more. I’ve tried styles I would never have considered before and had so much fun with the way I dress. It has also been great to meet the lovely HURR team and the customer service has been brilliant.
Tell a story of a favourite piece you rented on HURR.
I rented the Meryl dress from Ghost for a friend’s Swedish wedding in Málaga. I wore this for the Spanish-themed welcome night as I loved the subtle “flamenco” flare of the fluted sleeves. I definitely want to invest in a piece from Ghost as I received so many compliments (photo attached).
What’s your favourite piece you’re renting out that you want people to wear?
My striped blue Missoni dress. It is the perfect summer dress but would also be cute layered on top of a polo. It can be dressed up or down and looks great even with a pair of flip flops and beach hair.
How do you make sure to get the most out of your rentals?
I like to ensure I rent for a party or wedding so I plan well in advance and think about how I will style the outfit. Accessories make a huge difference.
Any words of advice for new renters?
Be bold and try a different style. You’ll can choose later to invest in similar pieces if you loved the look. Most of us play it way too safe most of the time.
