Meghan Markle’s Ethical Royal Tour
See the Duchess’ sustainable brand choices and how she styled them on the Royal Tour of Australia.
HRH has fast become a global style icon. Megan continues to modernise the monarchy by wearing sustainable fashion brands.
On her first official royal tour of Australia, Megan showed off her effortless maternity style through brands with charity and sustainability at their core.
We’ve rounded up her best sustainable looks so far:
The Duchess stepped out in a ruffled pink Figue dress.
The boho brand uses recycled and upcycled materials to create elegant designs. Any fabric left-over after the initial design stages, is then used to accessorise the garment. Markle styled the piece with Karen Walker earrings, a Shaun Leane bracelet, and black Castañer espadrilles.
Megan opted for a pair of black Rothy flats – each pair are made entirely from recycled water bottles, and were proudly worn by the Duchess on two different occasions throughout the tour.
Rothy’s Black Solid Flats $145.00.
Day two of the royal couple’s Australian tour saw Megan opt for a more casual look. She teamed an oversized shirt with skinny jeans and a blazer designed by Serena Williams.
Outland Denim was founded by James Bartle. The brand employ female victims of human trafficking in Cambodia. He personally employs these women and others at risk of poverty; and knows all the seamstresses by name.
The royal’s relationship with Stella McCartney dates back to her wedding reception and her halter neck evening gown. For the opening ceremony of the 2018 Invictus Games, she chose the designer again. On this occasion, it was a midnight blue Cady Cape dress.
Over the years, Stella has championed ethical fashion with cruelty-free and environmentally conscious designs. For this dress, Meghan added a bespoke Dior clutch, Birks earrings and Stuart Weitzman heels.
For an Invictus Games sailing event, Meghan debuted a pair of Veja trainers, which are made entirely from sustainable materials such as organic cotton and soles made of wild rubber from the Amazonian forest.
For this look, the expecting mother slipped into black skinny jeans with a black fitted poloneck and an Invictus Games branded waterproof jacket. She accessorised the look with Adina Reyter earrings and Krewe sunglasses.
